Recycling Used Nuclear Fuel for Electricity Production
Slightly used nuclear fuel retains over 30 times its original power after removal from light-water reactors, and fast nuclear reactors can recover this energy. Existing spent fuel in the U.S. could supply power equivalent to 270 years of current annual consumption, with a potential value of $100 trillion at 10 cents per kWh. This discussion explores the physics, practicalities, and economic benefits for states adopting this technology to meet the growing demand for clean, affordable energy, crucial for national security and global economies.
