Beyond Petra Nova: the Next Generation of Carbon Capture in the US
Bob Slettehaugh, Kiewit

Bob Slettehaugh is the Manager of Carbon Capture with the Kiewit Engineering Group. In this role, his goals include increasing awareness of Kiewit as the market leader, developing relationships with technology providers, and winning projects. Kiewit is actively performing and pursuing projects in Power (coal, natural gas), Oil/Gas/Chemical (hydrogen, gas processing), Industrial (cement, steel, ethanol, ammonia), as well as Direct Air Capture. Bob is a Mechanical Engineer with over 25 years managing projects, with an emphasis on carbon capture, gasification, and advanced/novel technologies.

Gary Cacciatore, CEMTEK

Gary currently serves as the Tunable Diode Laser (TDL) Applications Specialist for CEMTEK KVB-Enertec, headquartered in Santa Ana, California. He has over 28 years of CEMS industry experience including ten years of experience at KVB where he served as a Project Engineer designing and managing over 200 CEMS. He then moved up to Product Management where he managed the MIP opacity product and CEMSCAN product lines. Most recently, Gary spent the last 10 years as Environmental Monitoring Manager at Tyco Environmental Systems and was responsible for managing the complete division including sales, marketing, service, parts, operations and testing. He also spent 6 years at the Emerson Rosemount Analytical Division serving as the Marketing and Sales Manager for the Process Analytical Division. Gary's long list of achievements in the CEMS industry also includes inventing and engineering several patented processes and analyzers. In addition to expanding the business for the TDL product line, he also serves as Business Development and Regional Sales Manager for CEMTEK’s Midwest and International territory. Gary graduated from the State University of New York College at Buffalo in 1986 with a BS Degree in Industrial Technology.

Iain Hall, Chief Technical Officer at Integrated Global Services (IGS), has been instrumental in the development of the latest HVTS (High Velocity Thermal Spray) Alloy Cladding Technology. Iain has decades of experience in material science and application. He specializes in metal spray corrosion and erosion mitigation cladding systems for mission-critical equipment.

Balki Iyer is the Chief Commercial Officer at Eos Energy Storage. With 20+ years of leadership experience in Energy industry with companies like GE, Enel, Vestas, Schlumberger, he led commercial activities globally & successfully steered three startups from inception to exit. Balki is passionate about the role of clean energy in changing the world and the role of education in empowering the people who can change the world! His business and entrepreneurial pursuits over the past decade have been guided by this passion.

Jeff Hines, Babcock & Wilcox
Jeffrey A. (Jeff) Hines recently returned to Babcock & Wilcox in a business development role after retiring as President of a regional heavy industrial contractor based in western PA.
Jeff has served B&W in a variety of roles of increasing professional responsibility from pre-construction to project and operations management.  His current business development role focuses on short- and long-term strategic goals consistent with the Company’s vision.
Prior to B&W, Jeff worked as an engineer in the power division of a major AE firm, served as a project engineer during the decommissioning of the nation’s first commercial nuclear power station and started his professional career as a field engineer during construction of Beaver Valley Unit 2.
He holds a master's degree in business administration from Malone University and a bachelor of science degree in engineering from Geneva College. He has authored & co-authored seven technical papers, served as an employer representative on the Boilermaker National Joint Rules & Standards Committee, and serves as a trustee for the Boilermaker National Annuity Fund.

Tim Fuller, Babcock & Wilcox

Tim has been with The Babcock & Wilcox Company for 31 years.  He is currently the Business Development Manager for intelligent products within the Controls, Electrical, and Boiler Cleaning Equipment Group.  Prior to assuming his current role, Tim spent 12 years at the B&W Research Center and 13 years in an optimization group known as the Advanced Performance Technologies group.  While at B&W, Tim has been involved with the design, testing, simulation, and control of traditional and advanced power systems.  He has also been instrumental in the development of advanced diagnostic and optimization systems based on the principles of nonlinear dynamics and chaos. 
Tim received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Akron and a Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Tim is the author of numerous papers in the areas of advanced power systems, diagnostics and optimization.  Tim is also a contributing author on two nonlinear dynamics and chaos books as well as the holder of 10 United States patents related to advanced diagnostics, control and optimization.

Mark Truax, Pac/West Strategies
Mark owns Pac/West Strategies, a political and public relations firm with a diverse client network around the United States. Mark has deep roots in Colorado, and the western United States. As the President of Pac/West Strategies, he oversees the firm’s wide range of projects including marketing for a local public health organization, a PRSA award-winning oil and natural gas program—Coloradans for Responsible Energy Development, which is one of the nation’s largest sustained public awareness campaigns, run right here in Colorado, and media relations covering the western region of the United States for a national trade association.

Prior to starting Pac/West Strategies, Mark spent more than a decade with Pac/West Communications, managing the firm’s Denver office since it opened in 2013 and overseeing work in the energy sector, with a specific focus in oil and natural gas, agriculture, and federal affairs. Mark’s expertise includes government relations, strategic communications, campaign management, crisis management, and stakeholder outreach.

Prior to returning to Pac/West in 2013, Mark worked for the National Association of Conservation Districts in Washington, DC where he oversaw the western United States and the association’s work with the Department of the Interior, and the House and Senate Resources Committees. Mark has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics and Government from Pacific University.

Josh Vines, Duechting Pumps North America

Josh is a Sales and Project Manager for Duechting Pumps North America, providing technical sales and project management support to their customer base throughout Duechting’ s North American territory. Duechting Pumps is a privately owned, German pump manufacturer with over 80 years of experience in the field of advanced centrifugal pumps and coating repair technology for corrosive and/or abrasive services. Duechting provides engineered pump solutions designed to the application to provide both optimized service life and reliability in processes that are extremely challenging for expensive, exotic metal alloys in terms of wear life and performance.
Born and raised in Arkansas, Josh received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Josh has worked in multiple industries including Manufacturing, Oil and Gas, and through managing Business Development/Sales with Duechting has experience with challenging corrosive/abrasive applications across various industries included Wet FGD Scrubbers, Seawater Desalination, Mining, Industrial/Chemical Industries, Sand/Gravel, and more. Josh is a certified Project Management Professional, combining knowledge in Project Management processes with Duechting’ s engineered solutions to provide a seamless and cost-effective solution for customers that have existing equipment suffering from reduced performance and reliability in corrosive and/or abrasive services.

Mark Hachenski, Emerson

Mark is Sales Director of Digital Solutions focused on Emerson’s Power and Water business.   In this role, he is helping customers optimize their workforce, improve reliability and make assets more efficient.  Mark has years of experience in optimizing customer processes in many industrial segments including gas/steam turbine & compressor controls, boiler emissions and performance and finally Operational Performance Management, helping customers increase revenue and reduce cost through fleet optimization.
Mark attended Michigan State University and graduated with a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1990. Today, he is based in Latham, NY where he lives with his wife and two daughters.

The Role of Hydrogen in a Post-Pandemic World
Rick Gasaway, Kiewit

Rick is the Manager of Hydrogen, PV and Microgrid Technology for Kiewit’s Engineering & Consulting Services Department. Recently, Rick has worked to build up Kiewit’s stake in hydrogen infrastructure for fueling of fuel cell vehicles and other hydrogen markets. Rick has been involved for more than 10 years with stationary fuel cell and hydrogen systems.

Ricky graduated from Clemson University 1980 B.S. Administrative Management Worked 36 years in the steel industry.  Four years working for refractory companies as a service engineer and salesman.  32 Years for Nucor Steel and Steel Dynamics in various positions from clerk, leadman, supervisor, to the last 20 years as a Melting Department Manager.  Retired from Steel Dynamic in January of 2017 and started Ricky Rollins Safety Speeches. National Safety Council 2019 Congress & Expo recognized as a Top Five Speaker. Selected as a Keynote Speaker at National Safety Council 2020 Congress & Expo.

Jerod Tengesdal, Bismarck State College

Jerod received his NC3 Certification from the National Coalition of Certification Centers in July of 2017. This certification allows him to train and certify students on the use of Precision Measurement Instruments. 

Jerod is a Certified Weld Inspector and Educator through AWS and teaches GMAW, the most commonly used welding process by local manufacturers, SMAW, which focuses on structural and pipe welding, and GTAW for Pipe, Aluminum and Stainless Steel. Jerod’s certifications by the NCCER, AWS, and NC3 allows him to certify welders to stackable/transferrable credentials.

Jerod joined TrainND SW in July of 2020 and previously trained for TrainND SE in Fargo. Jerod lives in Mandan, with his wife, Jenn, and their two children, son Jorgen and daughter, Aubrey.
